My family, which is myself, my husband, and my 7 year old son, came to Rio Rancho for the WWE event and we opted to stay at this hotel for several reasons. The bowling alley, the closeness to where we needed to go, and the various options for food and the pool. We had zero intentions of being there for the sake of it being a "casino." On the first night, we swam, changed and decided to go downstairs for some dinner. We went into the sports bar restaurant, ordered food to TAKE BACK TO THE ROOM. All of the staff was very nice. My husband by himself decided to walk around the floor because we had a 30 minute wait for our food order. So myself and my son stayed in the restaurant area until we got our food. Once we got our food, we walked out stopped briefly so I could text my husband to tell him we were done. David, your security guard, was RUDE FROM THE MINUTE HE SAW US. He told us to quit loitering in the walkway, even though we werent, and then said as he pointed at my 7 year old "HE CANT BE HERE." I 100% knew this, but told him I had to let my husband know we were done and try to figure out where he was so I could get the room key to go back up to our room. He replied, "well you need to call him and get off the floor" DO NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO first of all, and second we had BARELY made it out of the restaurant.
So Ricky Rescue David, FOLLOWED US and stalker watched us during the 2 minutes that I walked over to my husband so I could get the room key from him. We NEVER stopped directly at a machine, we stayed on the outside of the floor, and before I could even get the key from my husband, DAVID WALKS OVER and begins to YELL ONCE AGAIN at us for being TOO CLOSE TO THE MACHINES. I finally had to tell him to back off because he was literally being super aggressive for ZERO REASON other than being a jerk. I know the minors cant be near the machines and I was trying to make my way back up to our room but he kept on and he was following us like a creep. Once I got the key we left and he continued to follow us until we were out of sight. I realize this is a casino, but if your security guards are going to treat people like this, then we definitely WILL NEVER come back here. We stayed because of the bowling alley, the variety of food, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. So to families, don't take your kids here, because the security guards like David, will treat you like garbage. I had every intention on leaving that night, and cancelling our stay, but my husband talked me into staying. Was there other kids there, yes there was, several, and I sure hope they werent treated nearly as rude as we were.
Otherwise, The food was good, the rooms were nice, and the rest of the staff besides David were very nice. Find a new security guard!!

This was a total surprise! We just needed to stop for the night!! Rooms were incredibly nice and clean! View was amazing! Gambling was so much fun! $10 black jack tables were a nice change from the disgusting $25 minimum tables In Vegas! The staff was inviting and friendly. This is our new stop along our route!!

The hotel is very well maintained and closely monio by security. However, the customer service was not that great. When checking in, I could barely hear the front desk associate and she did not really make an effort to speak louder or repeat herself. Then, our reservation was messed up, even though we called to make the reservation and confirmed the details by phone and email. Then, meon of the days of our stay, I purposely left the door hanger off of our door so they would come in a replace our towels and sheets, but when we returned later that day the "Privacy Please" sign was on the door and nothing had been cleaned.
Also, if you want to eat at Home Plate, expect very slow service. They are not in a hurry to do any. The waiters rarely come back to check on you.
Overall, it's a nice resort, but still lacks in some vital customer service areas.

Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is an amazing place to be. The atmosphere is great. The location is great. Gaming is always good and the food choice in the food court is excellent. The staff is always very kind and very knowledgeable of their line of work and duties. It is very clean and a go to place for sports and sports books. Eats, bowling and arcade for both children and adults. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and very clean. The price during the week is better than most casino hotels I been to and the weekend rate is typical for what this place has to offer.

I was surprised $15 a day Valet Parking.
They falsified credit card information, stating only the incidental $100 would be charged, they charged it plus the incidentals. They changed it to another card but held my money on the other card anyway, the hotel told me they gad released all funds. This caused my account to go in the negative, as this money is being held still. It was for two night stay, even though I have overdraft protection Im not able to use my account, which is an account I use for bills to draft out of.
The Sportsbar restaurant is excellent in the evening. In the morning a different story. Bad service, burnt sausage, odd tasting steak. The servers response, "ok". I have stayed at every Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, this one a few miles out of Albuquerque is a no return for me.
